How to be at Dreamforce Without Actually Being There

It’s one of the hottest conferences of the year. Dreamforce is September 18th – 21st with some of the most anticipated keynotes and a performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. You want to go, but your budget and time just isn’t allowing yet. Here are some tips on how to engage with the conference without even being at the event.

Facebook
This is a great way to keep up with the most recent announcements, live images and other inside peeks at the event.

Twitter
Twitter allows you to keep up with the official announcements and information related to the event.

Conference Hashtag on Twitter: #DF12
The hashtag is one of the best ways to follow along at a conference, even if you aren’t there. You get the inside scoop on what attendees are seeing live and how they feel. You can also get inside tips and build connections with others on Twitter. The only setback with a conference this large is the tweets can get overwhelming. My recommendation would be to set up a stream to only following the hashtag and check back occasionally rather than trying to read every single tweet.

Leaders on Twitter
Marc Benioff – @benioff – Marc Benioff is chairman and CEO of salesforce.com.
Sir Richard Branson – @richardbranson – Richard is the founder of Virgin Group.
Tony Robbins – @tonyrobbins – Tony is an entrepreneur, author and peak performance strategist.

YouTube
YouTube will allow you to see session recordings during the event in full after they air.

LinkedIn
Also search Dreamforce in Events – Find attendees you may want to meet and make connections you want to build. There are also a few Groups out there for the conference; however, neither of the groups seems active yet.

Google+
Dreamforce is actively updating their Google+ account to share much of the same content they are promoting through Facebook.  I’d recommend choosing your favorite platform and follow that one to avoid doubling up on the same information.

Last year Dreamforce featured a LIVE broadcast, which is a great way to watch keynotes and stay up-to-date on the latest announcements. You can watch the LIVE broadcast on their facebook page this year.

And last, but certainly not least, continuing checking back here on our blog for session recaps, relevant updates and comprehensive live blog coverage. We’ll also be tweeting during the event @sundogtweets, so stay connected and don’t miss a minute of the cloud computing industry event of the year.
