Mission Hug Marc: Day 2

If you’re on this blog, you’ve probably heard about my mission to hug Marc Benioff. With the help of my coworkers at Sundog, old friends in Fargo and new friends on Twitter, I’ve been campaigning hard for this hug. Then, this morning when I woke up and checked my Twitter feed, I saw this:

Needless to say, I started freaking out. I mean, this whole mission has been a long shot, but what if, right? Okay, no. It wasn’t me. It was MC Hammer. Which was a really awesome consolation prize. Who doesn’t want to start their Wednesday with a live performance of Too Legit To Quit?! Then Benioff, donning glittery tennis shoes and still swaying to the beats, walked up to the stage to kick off Dreamforce 2012! And the whole time I’m thinking about this hug. It didn’t help George Hu gave him a hug before presenting, or that the Coke case study video ended with a girl hugging a CocaCola vendine machine that read Hug Me. Uhmm are you kidding? HUG ME! But, again, no. The lights come up and we’re packing to go, when we see Benioff greeting some people in the crowd. It was all shaking hands and kissing babies…until:

YOU GUYS! He was really feeling it, can’t you tell? I’m so happy! I don’t care that the photos are blurry, or that he didn’t seek me out because of our Twitter efforts, or that we didn’t chit chat about this event or my awesome fantasy football team, the point is I HUGGED MARC BENIOFF. And the support from everyone at or following #df12 gave me the affirmation I needed to take the bull by the horns. I’m still so excited about the fact that I hugged him. But you know what else? I’m sad that the mission has been completed. So here’s my follow up mission: Hug as many people as possible here. Get photos of it. Tweet it. And just enjoy the DFLove.

Thank you all for everything. It has been amazing to watch this whole thing unfold. Now, come get your hug.
